Alright, time to buckle down now, huh? It's officially 7 weeks and 2 days away from my next show - the North American Championships in Pittsburgh, P.A.! These last few weeks I've been upping my calorie intake a bit and trying to put on a bit of muscle, lifting heavier, and enjoying the transformation that's happening to my body. It's really quite amazing how your body can change so much in just a short amount of time. I'm truly excited to see how I'm going to look coming into this next show - because I feel so much fuller, in a good way.
As I mentioned I've been trying to put on a bit of muscle, so I've changed up my gym routine, and have been doing less super-sets and instead focusing on going up in weight and proper form. On average I usually do 4 sets starting with 15 reps, then 12 reps, then 10 reps, and ending it out with 8 reps. On that last set I'm going as heavy as I possibly can, and MAN have I impressed myself! :) My leg extension weight has gone from 60lbs to 100-110lbs, leg press has jumped from 180lbs to 320lbs (seriously), and my squats on the smiths machine from 70-90lbs to 130lbs. Needless to say, I'm PUMPED. I love this!
It's now back to the cutting phase a tad. As I mentioned once before I plan to come in a little fuller than my last show, not too much, but maybe a few pounds heavier. I don't have much to cut, I think approx 5lbs or so, which will be a breeze, thankfully! I've amped my cardio back up to 4-5 days a week with StairMaster intervals and run/walk/inclines on the treadmill (gotta work that booty!) and it's back to super-sets. So in short - the two a days are back in full effect (as if they ever left :)). <3 Nicole
